English Language Program
Beginner ELP
(CLBA Level 1-4)
UBridge students concentrate on developing fundamental English
skills in an interactive classroom setting. Course work
emphasizes those skills necessary for effective oral and written
communication. Instruction covers all areas of language
development: practical vocabulary, basic language structures,
and the essentials of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Intermediate
and High
Intermediate ELP
Program (CLBA Level 5-8)
In this program students continue to develop fluency and
accuracy. Students enroll in one course focusing on
comprehensive skills, and in a second class that enables them to
expand their skills in academic or non-academic areas.
University-bound students enroll in a course that emphasizes
skill areas such as academic writing, note taking and oral
presentation skills. Students with a more general focus take a
communication skills course that concentrates on current issues
or cultural aspects of Canadian life.
Advanced and
High Advanced
ELP
Program (CLBA Level 9-12)
Courses at this level focus on diverse areas of interest such as
current issues, cross-cultural concerns, vocabulary expansion,
public speaking and pronunciation. Videos and weekly news
magazines are used as source material. Students may enroll in
this program more than one time with a different curriculum each
time.
